The big cheese here at Yester California Adventure is a rat with a jacket, not a mouse with red pants.

Where are the customers?

Rizzo’s Prop & Pawn Shop was one of the original features of Disney’s California Adventure when the park opened in February 2001.
The utility poles around the shop were intentional.
The idea was to give the park’s Hollywood Studios Backlot a gritty, industrial look, like that of a real movie studio.
The shop itself was made to look like a prop storage area, with counters that looked like a haphazard arrangement of boxes, bins, barrels, and drawers.
Located a short distance from Muppet*Vision 3D, Rizzo’s Prop & Pawn Shop served as the gift shop for that attraction.

Same shop. New paint. New sign. New merchandise.

In late 2005, the Hollywood Studios Backlot was redecorated to make the area more inviting to guests.
Rizzo’s Prop & Pawn Shop became the Studio Store.
The store and the “soundstages” around it were repainted in the standard colors of Disney-MGM Studios at Walt Disney World and Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Resort Paris.

The Studio Store is near Monsters, Inc.: Mike & Sulley to the Rescue!

With its new name, the Studio Store was no longer limited to Muppet merchandise.
When the nearby Monsters, Inc.: Mike & Sulley to the Rescue! attraction opened at the end of 2005, the Studio Store became a combination Muppets, Monsters Inc., and Disney character shop.
