Test Track, Presented by Chevrolet, will have its official grand opening on Thursday, December 6, 2012. Guests who were lucky enough to be at Epcot on Monday, December 3—and I was one of them—had an early opportunity to experience the new version of the popular ride. The track is the same. The thrilling, high-speed outdoor section is the same. But the queue, theme, ride visuals, and post-show are all very different. This time it’s not about testing, durability, and 20th century technology. It’s now about designing cars with the right balance of “Capability, Efficiency, Responsiveness, and Power.” My opinion is that the new version is an improvement over the previous version—even though it’s not obvious how the shared Sim Track ride experience relates to the attributes of “Capability, Efficiency, Responsiveness, and Power” in the guests’ designs. Today’s article is just a photo album. And... spoiler alert... it may show you more about the new Test Track than you want to see.
Updated December 14, 2012: The original Test Track, Presented by General Motors, (March 1999 to April 2012) is now also the subject of a Yesterland article. |
